Colin Smith is an artist that I have followed for quite some time now. A few years back he self published his own book, Angry Young Cliché, which discusses a multitude of ideals that allow insight in to questions all designers ask themselves at one time or another.

While I, along with the rest of the world, have changed since the book was published in May 2005, the idea of constantly fighting that uphill battle remains; the idea that aesthetics don’t have to be a commodity, that the generation I am a part of does have something to say, and that the people involved with the ideas and the production and the endless hours of editing the book saw believe in something more than what the world currently accepts as part of the status quo.

Since then he has released more than 10 books, that for the most part are available as free downloads. For those of you that enjoy holding something most are also available through Lulu. His blog is commonly where he develops and explores concepts for what will become books and well worth checking out. Hit the jump for a few more images.
